Its nearing the end of 2011! 2011 has been a really fast one, probably catching up with age.

Updates with tech gadgets:

• Apple MacBook Pro 15″ Unibody 2011
• Had a crazy time switching from Windows to Mac. The trackpad 4-finger slides, the “Command” key, and everything else non-Windows.

Updates with photography:

• New Camera – Canon EOS 5D Mark II
• I am so loving full-frame! But before all these, had a steep learning curve, from the all so-easy just-shoot 500D, to a monster. (/godmode off)
• Adobe Lightroom
• For all the editing, managing of my photos. Great fun. Was using ACDSee before and mainly used it for batch processing.
• New Lenses
• Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM
• Sold, hands too shaky, user problem. Replaced with IS 24-105.
• One of the first few test shots I took with the 24-70 on a 500D body before I switched to 5DMkII. I had better results with the lens on a 5DMkII, but I had to let it go, it was heavy and my hands can’t keep up… A very good “user-problem” example. Well, I’ve had my fair share of fun and experience with the “brick”

• The power of wide angle. I thought I had a lust for wide-angle shots when I first bought this lens, but it ran out pretty soon. Patience with wide-angle shots!

• Borrowed my friend’s for an event and it was just splendid! Definitely need to get my hands on one. My experience with flash has always been a bad one, ranging from Point-and-Shoot G10 to 500D’s in-built flash. I just don’t like flash-ed humans with white faces and colors that are not what I see via the viewfinder. (Hey, I’m not shooting in a studio ;] )
• New Lens for Bokeh/Portraiture
• Looking for a f/1.2 or f/1.4. Currently undecided between the 24mm, 35mm and 85mm.

Oh yes, its the school holidays now! (Not that it applies to me anymore) Guessing its time for families and friends to go for a holiday trip. Here’s a photo to help you relax and enjoy your days towards the year 2012.

(Useful) Screenshot Plus

- Very handy when you want to take screenshots of your desktop without opening Preview or remembering the shortcut keys. Comes with various options for your to choose, like timed screenshots, window selection and also drag selective.

(Cool) Desksaver Plus

- Cool! Changes your background to the screensaver you choose. As of writing this, I can already feel the small lag of typing. Please do remember to switch it off if you are going to work or encode files.

Note: Takes a small bite out of your CPU processing power. I’m looking at 5~10% for using Flurry screensaver for my desktop.
